How a typical PVC sheet blister machine works

2024-04-20

A PVC sheet blister machine, also known as a PVC blister packaging machine, is a type of equipment used in the packaging industry to produce blister packs made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) sheets. Blister packs are commonly used to package a variety of products, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer goods, and electronics.

Here's how a typical PVC sheet blister machine works:

1. Material Loading: PVC sheets are loaded into the machine. These sheets are typically pre-manufactured and supplied in rolls or sheets of specific thicknesses and sizes.

2. Heating: The PVC sheets are heated to a precise temperature using heating elements or infrared heaters. Heating softens the PVC material, making it pliable and ready for forming.

3. Forming: The heated PVC sheets are then fed into a forming station where they are molded or shaped into blister cavities. This is typically done using a mold or tooling with the desired cavity shape and size. The forming process may involve vacuum forming, pressure forming, or a combination of both.

4. Product Placement: Once the blister cavities are formed, the products to be packaged are placed into the cavities. These products can range from pharmaceutical tablets and capsules to small electronic components or consumer goods.

5. Sealing: After the products are placed in the blister cavities, a backing material, such as aluminum foil or paperboard, is typically placed over the cavities to create a seal. This backing material is heat-sealed to the PVC sheet to enclose the products securely within the blister pack.

6. Trimming and Cutting: Excess material around the edges of the blister packs is trimmed away, and the individual blister packs are cut to the desired size and shape. This can be done using cutting dies or blades that follow the contours of the formed blisters.

7. Cooling and Stacking: Once the blister packs are formed, sealed, trimmed, and cut, they may undergo a cooling process to solidify the seals and ensure product stability. The finished blister packs are then stacked or collected for further processing, labeling, and packaging.

PVC sheet blister machines come in various configurations and sizes to accommodate different production requirements and blister pack designs. They are essential equipment in industries requiring efficient and reliable packaging solutions for a wide range of products.
